Anyone's kid had to have one because of lab work indicated low growth hormone?
I am in a bit of a tailspin worried they're going to find a tumor or something. Would love to hear if anyone's kid had to do an MRI because of low growth hormone levels and what the MRI showed. |
| Did they test all pituitary hormones... t4, cortisol, prolactin, etc? My son has been taking supplemental hormones for years because of hypo-pituitarism. They just test his blood levels quarterly. He has never had an MRI. |
| I think they may be looking for structural deformities/abnormalities and not necessarily tumors. We haven't gone this route yet but I'm on the lookout because we suspect low growth hormone in DS. |
| What does the bloodwork show? I would make sure to test that first. |
| Blood work and growth hormone stimulation test show log growth hormone. MRI is apparently needed before they prescribe hormone injections. I’m just freaking out something bad will show up. |
| I had an MRI for pit tumor. Very small. I’m fine but never able to have a baby. It came up with fertility treatment. I sincerely hope yours comes clean and all is well. |
| I have a thing on my pituitary - a lot of people do. They are benign so that’s good. However depending on where they are they affect the functioning of the pituitary. The pituitary clinic at UVA is where you want to be - one of the best in the country. Dr Vance is the endo and Dr Jane the neurosurgeon. You do an MRI and then meet w them as a team. Anyway the MRI itself sort of sucks, but the rest of it isn’t too crazy. My thing pushes on a part that messes up prolactin so I take medicine and follow up once a year |
| Oops sorry I didn’t realize it was a kid. They are probably just playing it safe. Just a formality hopefully. |
Sorry that should say low growth hormone not log. |
