This would be my clarifying question. I hate oaky wines, so I like Starmont and the Patz & Hall Dutton Ranch Chardonnays, but whether those are mid-priced or not, is up to each purchaser to determine.

I don’t know if this is your definition of mid-price, but I really like Rombauer Chardonnay. It’s probably between $36 and $40 per bottle these days.
