Gluten and dairy free cake in Bethesda or closeby

Anonymous
Besides the Red Bandana Bakery, is there anywhere else for good gluten-free, dairy-free cake or cupcakes that is baked fresh and can be served to guests without them realizing that the cake is gluten & dairy free? Happy Tart bakery in Falls Church makes cakes like this, but they are not open on Thursdays, and I need the cake first thing Friday morning. Also, I don't have a lot of time so if the bakery were close by to the party venue in Bethesda, that would be great.

I heard Lilit Cafe in Bethesda sells cakes from Sweet 27( based in Baltimore). I think they have gluten-free and vegan. You can call and ask to check.

Why??? Served to guests without them realizing? Make the gf/df person a naturally gf/df dessert like fruit dipped in dark chocolate (check label). Let the others eat regular cake.

I had a gf/df cake once and it was delicious. Did not even realize it was gf/df. I don't think it's bad to serve that to other guests.

Rise? If you’re getting it the day ahead might be worth it.

Red Bandana is great

You can get GF and separately dairy free cupcakes at Georgetown cupcakes, but not a cupcake that is both

I don’t think Lilit is that good.

You could also get a regular cake for everyone and some additional GF and vegan cupcakes.

Then maybe you can help OP by finding out where it was baked. I’ve only seen either gf or df. Not both. Next you’ll say you want sugar free. At that point, consider that maybe finding this Franken-cake is not the solution to the dessert at this meal/gathering.

Lilit Cafe is wonderful for all things GF, but I don't think they have fresh bakery-special-occasion-quality cakes. The ones I've seen there are frozen and perfectly good and yummy, but not what you describe.

For what you're looking for, we go to Sticky Fingers in Columbia Heights.
