| I was eating raw oysters today and got a bad one. I immediately spit it out. But now I’m praying I don’t get some stomach bug. |
| You spit it out. That was your evolution knowing full well what to do. Relax. |
| You’ll be fine. |
|
You’ll be ok.

| About six months ago, I ate a bad oyster at a very fancy restaurant. I spit it out and I was fine / no adverse reaction. And I got my meal comped. |
| Honestly wondering, how did you know? I love raw oysters and haven't had a bad one. Can you tell immediately by the taste in your mouth? The last time I had oysters, one was a bit shriveled (for lack of a better term). I smelled it and seed.fine. put it in my mouth and tasted fine, ate it and all was well so I'm curious about those that have had bad ones. |
The flavor was just awful. I spit it out and smelled it and it smelled the way it tasted. I guess the moral of the story is to smell your oysters before you eat them. |
| The main food borne illness problem from oysters is a bacteria that doesn’t change their taste or smell. If you had one that smelled bad it was probably just dead and decomposing, which might not even make you sick. They shouldn’t have served it but you’re going to be fine. |
| I once at a bad crayfish at my boss’s house. He was sitting right in front of me, and I felt it rude to spit it out. It was so disgusting, but I did not get sick. I think you will be ok. You can get sick from even no bad oysters though. |
You are a raw crayfish? |

That happened to me and a friend, and I threw up for 24 hrs, until I got a nausea med from doctor. I had two old fashioeds with it, and the booze didn't help kill it off. Godspeed. |
It happened Saturday and it’s now Tuesday. I think I dodged a bullet! |
