Vacation home near DC

Anonymous
I need a small vacation home (with potential to retire there) near DC. Anything within 3 hrs is fine. Just want scenic and affordable. My budget is $600K and would prefer 3 bed/2 bath. Any suggestions about which areas to focus on. I want to do some homework before involving a realtor.

Well OP none of us know what “scenic” means to you. And if you’re planning to retire there, you don’t want a cabin in the middle of nowhere. You need to be near healthcare and other services.

Not in OP’s budget unless they want to spend the foreseeable future doing a major reno.

3 hrs is a big radius Op.

PA, MD, NJ, DE, WV, and arguably NC (if you time the traffic from Roanoke Rapids or like Rocky Mount).

I have friend who retired on river near annapolis in small house for less than that - but maybe prices have gone way up in the last 5 years?

Scenic means near mountain, beach, river or lake. I do need to be near healthcare and basic necessities.

They've almost doubled (and that's not unique to the area).
