Macgruder HS LGBTQ+ friendly?

Anonymous
My DC has a disability and may be moved to a special program at Macgruder. Does anyone know if they have all-gender bathrooms? DC went to Tilden MS and all MCPS new buildings have one so it was not an issue - there was one on every floor. In the current HS they need to get a key and go way to the other side of the school, which is difficult. If anyone knows if Macgruder has accessible all-gender restrooms in various places throughout the building that would be great.

I am at Magruder and teachers have reported the same issue with students requiring an all-gender bathroom needing a lot of time to go to the bathroom due to needing to get a key from the office. If this this ESESS program, there are probably more bathroom options though.

School is in session. Someone will answer the phone there if you call to ask. This doesn’t need to be crowdsourced.

But the official answer is often different than lived experience. I'm at another HS that has the bathroom, but it's permanently locked. I had to sneak a kid into a staff bathroom because they were desperate and had nowhere to go.

Thank you and exactly this.

My LGBTQ child was at ESESES at Magruder. It was a very welcoming place. I never asked about bathrooms though.
