Average GPA at SWW (DC "magnet") is 3.93 unweighted; this is what private kids are up against

Insane grade inflation in DCPS:

A's are given for "any effort at all"

SWW has fantastic college admissions again this year--better than any private. This is what the DC private school kids are up against with their
3.4's for working their a$$es off. 🙁

Solution is clearly for you to put your DC in public since you think it's much easier.

Oh, the humanity!

Wait, I thought all today’s posts are about how valuable the years and years of private school are for all the precious children. Are we back to private kids being “penalized” and “disadvantaged”?

I assure you it's not as easy as they make it seem. There's inflation across Public and Privates alike. Colleges are well aware what's going on.

When almost the entire school has straight As, it's easy.

I really wish you’d stop trolling so much. It is tedious.

How is this trolling? It comes straight from the school.

I think PP is saying that "this is what the DC private schools are up against" is the trolling, not the article.

The problem, then, is the grade inflation in public schools. Do you want private schools to lower their standards, too? Is this why people argue that some privates are deflating grades? Isn't this a false dichotomy?
Anonymous
Clearly the grade deflation isn't working. And the colleges are falling for the inflated grading hook, line and sinker. I don't know rhybteb privates just don't inflate. Walls has far better admits this year than sidwell among unhooked upper middle class white kids

I thought private school was about providing your child the tools so that when they get to college and adult that can take advantage of them.
That the advantages of small class size, personalized attention, full staffed programs advantage the students in a manner so that they are able to excel.

They are up against - overstaffed counselors, students in a school where the bathrooms may not work, larger class sizes where students do not get the individualized attention.

And you are complaining?

But for YEARS everyone has been saying that they're just competing against the others in their school. So, that's not correct?

It this year. I think the grading differences are so severe that colleges are now entirely passing on private school kids with sun 3.5 GPAs.
