The Wells Fargo at 3140 Washington Blvd was robbed shortly after 3 p.m. and the suspect — reported to be a man in his 20s — was still in the bank when officers arrived. Police surrounded the bank and shut down traffic in the area. Five employees and customers, including a small child, were held in the bank with the suspect during the hour-long incident, according to an update from police. A negotiator and SWAT team members responded to the scene, while firefighters and medics staged nearby. The suspect implied that he had a weapon, according to police, but it’s unclear whether he was actually armed. |
| Do they even keep cash in banks anymore? Robbing a bank is so 1800s. |
| Arlington is really starting to get dangerous with crime. |
| They arrested the suspect. No injuries, thankfully. |
Wonder whether he's a Virginia resident. Or not. |
| Feel bad for the person with a small child. I can’t imagine keeping a small child quiet in that sort of situation. |
There's something going on in Clarendon every week. There was a chase with police over a stolen car, something about a stolen gun (? I recall a gun was involved, but am fuzzy on the details), store robberies, and a slew of other incidents. |
North Carolina. Bank robbers tend to be from Maryland or other jurisdictions. Car jackers, shoplifters, and petty criminals are from DC. |
how dumb are you? |
| Lol who thinks they can rob a bank in this crowded congested area and get away with it? |
Alexandria is much worse two bank robberies this week alone |
| Whatever happened to the Wachovia robbers? They were all over Fairfax county robbing for a while a while ago. |
Why? What a weird question and takeaway |
