| More grocery price increases this week! Up a ton from just last week! Avocados are $2.99 EACH at lidls. Food prices are insanity. Hellman's mayo for $6.99, $3.99 for wheat bread. What went up since your last trip? Are you buying less now? |
| THIS IS UNFAIR!! |
|
I'm with you on the pain of inflation. And I love Lidl.
On the other hand, up until, what, 20 years ago?, avocadoes were never an American staple. They were rare and exotic. |
| They are imported mostly from mexico. |
| They’re $1.99 today at Whole Foods. |
| They are cheaper elsewhere. Prices fluctuate at different stores too. They had a supplier and they ran our or raised prices. Sometimes my local small grocer has betyer prices than Wf. Sometimes not. |
|
WF is selling amazing Mexican mangoes five five dollars. We've been wolfing them down.
Besides that, yes, inflation is real and sucks. |
| I bought 6 at Costco last week for 4.99/5.99. |
| For 2 people our groceries was $140 this week. Insane and nothing special chicken, fruits and vegetables. |
| Cost of food is too damn high! |
| avocados are truly terrible for the environment. They should be way more expensive to discourage people from eating them. |
| .85 cents each at super target |
|
So who has best prices here?
Lidls, Safeway’s, or Giant’s avocados? |
You've never been to southern California. They are neither rare nor exotic. |
| Avacados hit an all time high in the summer of 2022. Some restaurants took guac off their menus. Some switched to a weird cashew guac and some to a "doctored up" pea puree. Then, in the fall, there was an oversupply-- some growers were giving them away. Now, they are high again. Very frustrating. And, I ' m not paying $20 for avacado toast! |
