ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Why haven’t other leagues mentioned anything.

is ECNL the spokes person for the rest of the leagues? Seems like they are putting this news out to get people to want to switch.

ECNL will benefit the most from the switch. Why do other leagues want to promote the change? MLS Next will lose quite a few late birthday bench players who can start in ECNL after the change.

All the words are just politically correct to justify their move. The decision has already been made and will be announced in Nov., just before the tryouts.

This is nonsense. They cannot do it alone and right now no one else wants to move. In any event this is still under study. Do not expect an answer until mid-next year at best.

They definitely can do it with US club soccer. Which has already agreed and it is out of ECNL hands and us club is handling things at this point. However they have said they do not want to do it without the majority. But we will definitely have answers soon. One way or the other.

I’ve heard from someone at the So Cal soccer league who is governed by US club it’s definitely happening. They are just going through all the official channels but behind the scenes it’s already decided.

They don’t want to do it w/o majority because they don’t have the majority.

I don’t think that statement was made by college soccer truth, for shits and giggles. They don’t have the votes.

Some ECNL clubs will suffer from this as well. Parents can’t handle change

Nothing was said about them not having enough votes? Just that it’s going to a vote. Also US club soccer the governing body of ECNL is the one who is pushing this at this point. But I agree that if they don’t get more leagues to join them then this will not pass. However it sounds like USYS joining them would push things heavily in their favor. We will know more about that in mid October.

ECNL seems to be the one pushing this the hardest. As of now they are voting to go back to School Year but ECNL cannot stand alone with this rule change.

They need U.S 🇺🇸 Soccer Approval and the other club leagues to be behind it too.

A survey has been sent out and meetings are being held and for what we have gathered, a lot of Club Directors don’t believe it will be approved as there is no real desire from U.S 🇺🇸 Club soccer to change it again.

I’ve always heard this is not a unanimous decision where everyone is holding hands and shaking their head yes. But at this point the yes’s are louder than the no’s and people who are on the no side can’t give good enough reasons to keep things the same. But some ECNL directors will be kicking and screaming because this change will throw everything into a short term frenzy. Which makes some directors nervous.

USSF is not a fan of the change back but if enough people are on board they will not stop it from happening. Can US club get USYS to join their side?

Find out on nexts weeks episode of US soccer madness!!!

I work with USYS and as a USSF youth council member.

I was just talking about this with a club board member yesterday and the impact it would have on the soccer landscape. It would be an interesting move as most kids are not going to be called for international duty and this aligns well with the NCAA.

That’s all I can say at this point.

I knew an ECNL club already started age group training to prepare for the change.
