what kind of response time should I expect?

Anonymous
I haven't applied for jobs in a long time. My company is being sold I have been told I won't have a position in 12 weeks. I make $225K and am in my mid-40s. I have great experience in my field.

I applied to 40 jobs this weekend via LinkedIn and plan to do more this evening.

How long do you think it will be before I hear back from a few? Also, I am networking with previous coworkers and friends.

What else should I do?

Find a company you want to work for and call them. If you are as experienced as you say they’ll be happy to give you an interview.

I did that too but I am curious what people are getting for response times from applications.

It could be anything from a couple of days to a month or so. It's really a crapshoot. Your best bet is picking up the phone and working your network.

You applied for jobs over a major holiday/spring break weekend. Keep that in mind.

That’s…literally not how this works. Idk what industry to think it works in, but if there’s spots to fill companies either have internal candidates, referrals, or public postings.

You’re not going to call…Coke or p&g and say ‘listen pal, Give me an interview’
