A College or University That Your Kid Loved But You Did Not

I think my kid liked Auburn more than I did. I couldn’t get over just how centrally located the football stadium was, but it didn’t faze my kid. I thought there was plenty else to like, but I think my initial snark gave my kid the impression I wouldn’t think highly of their choice if they went there. Kind of learned from that experience to keep any negative thoughts to myself because I’m not going to be the one attending the school.

Thought I might read about NYU on this thread.

Purdue.
It was just so huge. My son love it, we'll see if he gets in (engineering.)

This is the type of response that I expected. Thought that I would read of parents loving small schools where junior would be given an inordinate amount of attention, while students crave the excitement and varied options of a large university.

Thank you for your response.

Just returned from Northeastern and neither one of us liked it much, though I do give it high marks for several things, just not right for my kid.

I think it can go both ways. One of my kids loves VT which is too huge for my taste. My other I thought would be a great fit for W&M but she preferred schools of <1500 students. Will go to one with 1200. I worry it may be too small but I can understand what she likes about it in the depth of opportunities in her particular major + the ECs she wants. And, she plans to study abroad junior year so she'll get a taste of big campus that way.

Stanford! My kid believed the “intellectual vitality” such pile. I could only see the cheaters that came out of there.

We both loved it, but it is super hard to be admitted these days, as they decreased the number admitted years ago.

BUT I don’t want to turn this into another Northeastern thread, because someone here posts about Northeastern hate every week. I guess I could see why (fewer spots).

Which school did she pick with only 1200?

My child really liked Slippery Rock in PA. It was only ok in my view. However, the facilities for performing arts are very nice, and that is the reason we were looking there in the first place.
