I bought a fully cooked frozen ham and transferred it from the freezer to the refrigerator. 48 hours ago in anticipation of cooking it for Easter dinner today. However, my child woke up with a stomach virus and we are canceling our company for dinner. Can I refreeze the ham? I’d hate to throw it out because it was pricy and it’s so wasteful, but there’s no way my family of three can consume a 15 lb ham ourselves (nor do we want to right now!). It has been only in the refrigerator, I never thought on the counter. Please advise, lies ones. Hope your Easters are vomit free!
I would just cook it today or tomorrow and eat it throughout the week, in eggs for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, etc.
No - once something has thawed you cannot refreeze. This is true of any and all food
I think the rest of your family should enjoy it.
The rest of the fam is wary of eating today (we always catch what she has). And consists of just DH and me, and he’s going out of town in two days

I have thawed and then refrozen food. Mostly meat. OP I would eat 1/2 the half the ham and then refreeze the rest. That way you can see if the refrozen ends up tasting weird to you while also enjoying the ham this week.
No you can't. Cook it and try to eat as much as you can this week, eggs and ham, ham sammichs stuff like that.
According to the USDA, yes you can.
