| I find it hard to believe the Biden admin is gonna buy oil again when they seem hellbent on destroying oil companies and constantly promoting climate change. Is the admin obligated to rebuy oil when they announced they would at $70 per barrel but recently said it would take years to refill SPR (real translation = we will never rebuy oil again). |

| Yes they will buy oil for the SPR. Its a matter of national security. Oil is needed for trucking and maritime operations. |

No, the Administration is not obligated to buy oil for the SPR, and I do not think this Administration will. Granholm’s statements waffling on repurchases is why the Saudis announced production cuts (remember that the “commitment” to repurchase at a given price was made to keep OPEC from cutting in response to the SPR sales).
As a point of reference, the previous Administration proposed buying oil for the SPR as part of the Covid stimulus package, when oil was basically free, and the Democrats refused. |
