Tooth Tip Broke

My dog chewed on a bone (bought from a pet store) and the tips of his canine tooth broke off. I feel so bad! How horrible is this? Does it happen a lot? Is there anything to do for it?

I feel like a bad dog mom. If my kid broke his tooth I probably wouldn’t be freaking out much more than I am right now.

Go to the vet and get it looked at. If the pulp cavity is exposed, the tooth may need to be removed.

or alternately, if it is not exposed, it will be fine. My cat chipped one of her long teeth when she lunged at a squirrel the other side of a window and landed awkwardly. The vet looked at it and said it wasn't a deep enough loss to matter and only if it later turned brown should we have concern. That was 8 years ago, still fine.
