San Antonio- can you recommend a (cheap) BBQ place to eat near downtown?

If you mean downtown as in the Riverwalk, there isn't really anything great there but tourist trap type restaurants and chains. Especially BBQ joints and Mexican. I'd take an Uber or Lyft out to the north side of the city and hunker down with a big trash can lid full of Rudy's BBQ and a cold Shiner Bock: https://rudysbbq.com/

EVERYTHING is good there. ~ lived in San Antonio for 10 years in the oughts during spouse's military assignment at BAMC. Love that city, miss it still.
