My rising 5th grader was matched with Two Rivers. We are exploring other educational options as they are autistic (level 1) and have ADHD.
While the current school (typical DCPS) they are in is trying, there have been some concerning incidents that have been slow to resolve. I attended an open house/tour of Two Rivers, which seemed almost too good to be true. Are any parents out there who would be willing to let me know what their experience has been? Things we should be considering? |
| The two rivers middle school is a MESS (generally, not just special ed). Truly, truly in a terrible place this year. Next year will be a rebuilding year, HOPEFULLY. So don't put your kid at TR-Y thinking the TR middle school is an option. |

^^^ This. I have a friend who is working there this year and it has been a nightmare--super chaotic. I imagine they could have a lot of staff turnover as well, so I think it's gonna be a few years before it gets back on track, sorry to say.
FWIW, if you are on the Hill and can stick it out another year at your elementary, we know several families with kids with that profile at Eliot-Hine, as well as lots of families with kids with ADHD+ (including ours), who are pretty happy there. |
