AAP Level IV, but moving this summer

Anonymous
Hello,

We found out our daughter was eligible for Level IV, but we will be moving this Summer so she'll have to change school. Should we let the new center she'll attend know? Or should I just accept services in her local school for now, then register her to the new school after we move? I have no idea how to proceed... Thanks in advance for any help!

Accept the service. GT designations are recognized across districts, so if you end up in another county, your kid will still get their equivalent of GT/AAP

I assume op is moving w/in FCPS so yes, accept AAP and reach out to wherever you’re moving. To the PP, AAP admittance is recognized across FCPS, it’s not, however, like an IEP that is recognized across counties/different school districts.

It's a GT designation. Just because FCPS is generous with the label doesn't mean that other districts won't recognize it.

Sure, some *might*, but that’s up to the individual school district. It’s not guaranteed.

In Virginia, if you are identified by one county, other counties are required to recognize it, but Virginia has more robust state regulations around GT than some other states
