Sangster vs Canterbury woods

If you have experience with either for level four, can you please share your thoughts?

I have had 2 kids at Sangster for level IV over the last 6 years. I have been very happy with their experience there. They had mostly excellent teachers, with one or two good/average teachers. I think the current principal does a good job of being informative and responsive. I think the academic level is well above that which our base school would provide. They have handled my 2E kid's 504 very well.

Con's--we don't live in the Sangster neighborhood and consequently we never got the community feel from the school like we do at our base school. I always felt like my kids were slight outsiders in comparison to the Level IV kids also based at Sangster that had known each other for years. Sangster has this odd thing where 90% of the school is zoned for Lake Braddock and 10% of the school is zoned for Irving/West Springfield. Also for middle school the Level IV kids zoned for Irving can pick to go to Lake Braddock for the official Level IV classes or Irving for the Local Level IV. Regardless, all Level IV kids zoned for Irving/West Springfield must go to high school at West Springfield unless you figure out a back door way to stay with Lake Braddock. We chose to switch at middle school instead of high school, but it was a hard transition from Sangster to Irving (Local Level IV) for my oldest since they knew very few kids there.

Our base school does not provide any sort of local Level IV. I'm happy with our choices and feel that Sangster has been a great educational experience for my kids.

Thanks so much for your honest feedback. I know they've been through quite a few principals so I'm glad the current on
e is great. We don't live in the neighborhood either. It's a tough decision for sure. Our base also doesn't offer level four services although I love our base School

My kids go to Sangster. We live in the zone, but they all did Level IV as well. We live in the Sangster/Irving/West Springfield zone and we chose Irving for middle school. There’s a whole team of Level IV students only at Irving. There’s a big friend group shake up in the transition from elementary to middle school anyway. Also, a bunch of Sangster’s zone is mansions in Fairfax Station, so not much community feel there anyway.
