Would love to know where you hike in the DMV when you’re interested in logging 10+ miles. I’ve done Sugar Loaf and Great Falls. TIA! |
Old Rag |
Tow Path off canal street in DC in either direction. |
Patapsco |
Rock Creek (about 5 miles each way inside DC). Catoctin Mountain Park. Any of several stretches of the Appalachian trail, many of which go through state parks. |
How far are you willing to drive OP? |
Nats Park to the Cheesecake Factory in Friendship Heights. |
Cunningham falls/Catoctin state park
Greenway trail, Seneca Creek Park Black Hills regional park |
Harpers Ferry, Maryland Heights |
Gambrill state park |
All three sections of the Billy Goat Trail? |
There’s a trail I love just outside the north entrance of Shenandoah. Along a stream part of the way, end at visitors center, then back. Might be a bit under 10. |
B section is closed |
The Northwest Branch Trail or Rachel Carson Trail. The both start just off 29 but go in different directions. Not a loop but can walk 5 miles then turn around. Patapsco Mckeldin area, good have to map out a loop to do 10 miles though. You could do Maryland Heights and Loudoun Heights in one day, that would get you close to 10 miles. Or just do Maryland Heights and combine with a walk along the AT along the river.. |
