Marvin Gaye died as a result of gun shot wounds. He was killed by his father one day before his 45th birthday. If you have never seen his version of the National Anthem, you might be moved to tears.

It is sad. His parents were arguing, he intervened and then he and his father got into it, and his father shot him twice.

Gosh yes, I remember this happening. I was in middle school and all I could think was how could his dad, of all people, have shot him dead? It was unfathomable at the time. Still is really. What a waste.

Such a sad story and a wonderful talent. His voice was incredible. Having said that, I do not prefer his version to Whitney's.
