Currently at Sela PK3. Did the lottery for PK4 as a “let’s see” moment.
Didn’t get into our top schools. However: Whittier: #8 Takoma: #5 Cap City: matched Leave Sela for one of these three? I’m sure we will get into Takoma quickly. We are fans of Sela. We are. Truly. Don’t like the location and the “look” of the school. I’d gather we will stay.. would you? |
| Hello person with the lottery number 1 above me! (Takoma 6, Whittier 9) 😂 |
| You can get into any of those schools at pretty much any point past pre-K. If you’re happy where you are, stay until you’re no longer happy. Those schools will have spots in the future if you want them. |
Not the OP; wouldn’t it be easier on the child to start earlier to make friends? |
Not at those schools, there’s so much movement that friend groups shift anyways. Friends evolve regularly through second or third, and they can join Scouts or a sport to keep their friend group after you move. Such is the nature of elementary schools without a good middle school feed. |
Where are you now for PK3? |
| Sorry OP, but leaving Sela is not a big decision. If it doesn't work out, you can post lottery add or next year get back in. |
OP here; I agree. Not a big decision in a sense of “phew, we have a school” - we are lucky. What I meant was doing a change sooner than later, if we did one at all. I’d like my kid(s) to have stability in their schools. Maybe I’m overthinking it. |
| think about the commute and what your first choice other school is. you can always stay for prek4 and lottery again next year for K |
| Got in Ludlow Taylor for 3rd, leaving Two Rivers Young. What say you ? |
I say you asked the same question on another thread. |
We're actually at Capital City and happy there. I just wanted to rerun the lottery with last years' choices to see what would change. What changed was a much higher number! We're going to stay put. Good luck with your decision! |
| I will stay at Sela for now. You can get in any of those schools later if you want. At least at Sela you have the language immersion advantages (brain development, etc.) |
| We’re in at Capital City for PK3 as well. If any current parents would be willing to share about their experience, I’d love to hear. We’re excited! |
