I just finished the final round interviews for a job, and I’m told it’s down to me and one other person. I haven’t switched jobs in years so I’m out of practice on what to do if I actually do get the job.
Did you ever ask if you were the first choice? And whether the feedback from everyone with whom you interviewed was positive? This role requires working with multiple teams, and being liked by all of them will make the difference between the job being pleasant and the job being a huge pain. If you felt the offer was decent, did you negotiate anyway? Is it wrong to just sign on the dotted line? How much time did you take before giving your final answer? Anything I’m missing? Thanks |
| Sometimes someone didn’t vote for you but it doesn’t mean they don’t like you. People might offer this information but you wouldn’t ask. It would be super weird. Working with teams is something you’ll build over time. |
My first thought after reading your post: How old are you ? |
| What? No you don’t ask if you were the first choice and if everyone liked you. And yes, you always negotiate compensation. |

Surprised they even told you that much.
Feedback is unlikely if you don’t get the job. Always negotiate. Ask them when they will need a final decision from you. |

I just got a job offer and need to resign my old company next week.
I just realized I have not resigned a job since 2006. Last three jobs I was laid off. Feels kinda weird to voluntarily resign with no severance and drama. I rather get laid off with a fat check. |
