| I work from home and go to the same cafe twice a week for lunch. Total is always in the $12-16 range. I always just put $1 in the receipt tip line. But sometimes I wonder if $1 looks cheap, especially since it’s locally-owned and not some large franchise. And since I go there so frequently. |
| I refuse to tip more unless it's table service. For to go, they are doing the same amount of work as fast food workers who never get tipped. |
|
I think it’s fine in the abstract but if I were a regular anywhere I wouldn’t want to be the notably cheap one so I’d personally leave more.
When I’m a regular anywhere I want to be a liked regular. |
| I'd bump it up to $2 |
| no tips, stop being ridiculous, it's not your job to pay their employees a living wage |
| That's $1 more than adequate. |
| I don't have a regular spot like you, but I always wonder if I'm supposed to tip or not. I usually don't and wonder if the cashier talks sh*t after I leave. |
| Is it table service? If so, quite cheap. If you order at the counter and take your food to the table, it's just acceptable. |
| You want better karma than $1. |
| I did $1.50 today for a $19 lunch order. Prices are already outrageous and I'm no longer adding 15 to 20% for takeout. |
At $12-$15 that sand which is already carrying enough markup without an additional tip. |
|
If you dine in, I would tip 20%.
If you take out, $1 is probably fine. |
It's cheap if you are just writing it in, give a buck in cash instead. |
| Somewhere you eat repeatedly? $2. Maybe $5 once in a while. If you are getting lunch out that much, you have the money. Otherwise by lunchmeat and stay home. |
Crap like this is why tipping is actually decreasing across the board https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/25/business/tipping-trends/index.html |
