Holy Trinity in Georgetown_how is their curriculum?

Heard that their K and 1 grade are really weak. Kids have to get tutors because they are so behind.
How is this possible?

What kind of tutoring does a kindergarten student need?

Where do you hear this?

Some parents of struggling kids prefer to blame the school and teachers when there are obvious (to everyone but them) learning, behavioral, and other issues. If anything, the school lets some kids stay too long even when it’s clear the school can’t meet the child’s needs.

I have also heard that many children have been referred for outside tutoring, directly from families whose children are there.

You on the waitlist trying to scare others off?

OP, are you saying that kids there in K/1 need tutoring in later years? Or that parents are hiring tutors for their Kindergartners (and if so, what are these tutors doing for 5 year olds that the parents can’t do?)

While I really dislike the school personally, the OP I think was just trying to throw mud at the school and she seems to have disappeared

That should be a sign to the parents that it might not be the right school. They try to serve everyone but it’s a small Catholic school that cannot really handle learning differences. Being required to go to an outside tutor probably means next step is being counseled out because this is not common at all.

Why do you really dislike it?

I don't think anyone was looking at Holy Trinity because of academic rigor in the first place. There are many other strengths of the school that you won't find elsewhere, though! Including a strong faith-based education, community, and a focus on social justice. That's why we are there. If we were looking for the most academically rigorous school, we would have gone elsewhere.

I do think people attend for strong academics and parents expect academic rigor. Jesuits are known for being excellent educators.

Can you talk about this more? What do you dislike about the school? We are considering it

Seems this PP did exactly what they criticized OP for doing.
