Attempted Mugging in Van Ness Metro Station

My child informed that several classmates were approached yesterday shortly after school in the Van Ness station by a man in a ski mask demanding money. Thankfully he apparently wasn’t armed. My child did not know if anything was taken or if Metro Transit Police responded and filed a report about the attempted robbery.

Thanks for the post. A kid was mugged at Van Ness a little over a month ago as well. A high schooler.

The area around the VN metro is becoming blighted and there are random men just hanging around. Often there is the smell of marijuana. Concerns have been repeatedly raised with the CM but he’s chosen to spend more time promoting e-bikes and educating us on his interesting, yet completely unenforceable former racial covenants on his deed. We need more police. This summer is going to be historically dangerous in DC.

Hasn't van ness always been kind of a crime ridden cesspool? I never enjoyed driving through it. Lots of sketchy randos loitering. 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago. Some things never change
