If you have a peloton treadmill do you still use it and appreciate the value over a regular treadmill? We have a peloton bike and use the classes fairly frequently. I'm thinking we would use the classes on the peloton treadmill but am hesitant because of the price difference compared to other treadmills we are considering. |
My sister got the Peloton tread and found it very junky. Returned it. |
I have the original - now recalled - tread that is a huge machine. That one was worth the money.
All that to say, I have tried out the new one thinking I’d send the old one back under the recall. No way. Would not buy the new one. The tread deck feels short and I was hyper conscious, not in a good way, of my stride and after a short class I could feel the cheaper structure in my knees. Unlike treads that are workhorses (woodway, the original tread) this one has very little give when running which seems to aggravate my joints. I like the classes, I like the interface but the tread itself feels cheap. I follow some peloton rumor boards and some people think they will relaunch the big one but it will be even more $$$$ |
Also have the original. Amazing machine for what I paid. I’m glad I got the original and didn’t “wait” for the cheaper new one back in 2020.
I stopped using the class content other than the stretching and rigged up my own Zwift setup with a separate tablet. One major benefit of either model is the wheel for doing intervals. I use that all the time, and I have the motion to go up and down a couple of miles per hour pretty solid. I’ve probably put 2000 miles or so on the tread+. I don’t think it’s legal to sell private party given the recall status. I do wonder if they will ever launch the bigger one again. |
I got a Tread for christmas and love it. Have had the bike for 3 years and have used it very regularly, but missed running. Best treadmill I've run on -- very smooth and cushions my run. |
I have a $700 Proform that I got on Amazon. I use it for an hour a day over the past two years. We've had it a decade but I just started using it a lot more. I don't think a treadmill is worth the extra price. |
I have had my Peloton Tread for more than a year. I love it and still use it several times a week - almost daily in the winter. Classes are great and the machine is solid. It is the ONLY piece of equipment I've purchased that has kept my interest. It sits next to the unused elliptical from 5 years ago and and even older nordic trak. Highly recommend. |
Is this the newer version? Based on pp here, I checked out the size of the running deck in store and it does look shorter (the people at Dicks couldn’t figure out how to turn it on for me to actually try it, unfortunately). . Technically it’s only 1” shorter (60” standard vs 59” peloton) but I’m worried the way the bars are set, it’ll feel shorter as PP have mentioned. DH and I are on the shorter to average side so no super long strides. |
I have had the peloton bike for a few years, and bought the peloton tread about a year ago. I love it so much that I use it 3-4 times per week and rarely use my bike apart from using the screen for strength classes.

I love my old school Nordic Track Pro! |
What do people recommend as the highest-quality-possible treadmill? I don't care about the screen stuff. I mean actual treadmill components. Our beloved treadmill died, we bought another locally, but returned it after a week or so as it turned out to be junk.
I would frankly pay a fortune if I could buy one that is build like a Land Cruiser or an old school Mercedes. There have to be others like me! |
Check out the Nordic track incline trainers. Sooo much better for your butt to have a steep incline available, and they have a peloton-like subscription service with hikes and runs that automatically adjust incline and speed. |
PP here. Tread+ is a tank. Other than a woodway it’s about the best you can buy. I run a half marathon+ on there almost every Sunday as my long run. It does generate a decent amount of heat. I worry about mine dying, but so far so good. |
People in the Facebook group love theirs. I am wealthy, use my treadmill a lot but I think it's expensive and overpriced. I have a cheap one and it's fine, it gets me from point A to A. I think the classes are annoying and not that great. I cancelled my membership and watch tv while I run or go outside. |
Highest quality treadmills are Woodways. High quality components, simple electronics, and built like a tank. |
