How long will students have to decide if they want to take the spot?

New to this, does Walls ever release result early? Or is it all with My SchoolDC?

It’s all through My School.

And always released on time.

What time are decisions normally released at?

Was the interview and admissions process for Walls this year smoother than the last couple of years? I recall that there was a lot of discussion about the chaotic admissions cycles.

How many spots open? How does the lottery work? My kid had interview. They did ok. What happens after that? They say yes or no and then put how many in a pile?

Many parents will accept no matter what and cross our fingers child gets off waitlist for the privates. Happens each year so even if you don't get in - there is hope. And before you say those parents lame, the whole system /application process stinks.

Last year they interviewed 500 (same number interviewed this year). 170 accepted in initial lottery; 211 on the waitlist (not sure what happened to remainder of 500 interviewed - dropped out for whatever reason). Ultimately last year 69 offered spots off the waitlist. So decent but not awesome odds for applicants. (this year all applicants had a 3.87 or above GPA = top score for grades on rubric = interview score is the sole deciding factor for where you rank among the 500 applicants interviewed for acceptances/waitlist).

Do they reject any out of the 500 or just order the WL?

Did they offer interviews to 500 days r actually interview 500? I know some who declares ned the interview but none who received an invitation to interview after the invitations were sent.

Corrected.

Did they offer interviews to 500 or actually interview 500? I know some who declined the interview but none who received an invitation to interview after the invitations were sent (so as to bring the number of interviews back up to 500).

I would surmise that many people who apply to Walls list schools like Banneker and Duke Ellington first, so if applicants get into higher ranked schools through the lottery they would automatically not be accepted to Walls and also not be waitlisted.
