Thoughts on the name Markus? German/Mexican family here.
Other ideas are: Marcus Tomas Martin Mateo Stefan Christian Oliver Daniel Milo Valentin Matias Sebastian |
Spell Marcus. It's fine. Any of your names are fine |
|
Marcus looks better.
I love all of the names on your list. |
|
Marcus is WAY better than Markus in my opinion.
I've known several great people named Marcus so I have a great association. |
|
don't spell it like that. German speaker here, so I get it, but it looks misspelled in a US context and I just think the K is uglier/harsher (same thing with Clara/Klara). Marcus is fine.
Tomas is my favorite of these. Also like Sebastian, Matias, Daniel. Oliver is nice but overused lately. |
| We spelled it with k because one parent is from Europe (c is more like s in his language) and last name started with K. Haven't seen it spelled wrong on his documents lately. It happened more when he was younger. |
| Always sounds like mucous to me...sorry! |

I prefer the Marcus spelling unless family members are going to drive you crazy mispronouncing or misspelling it.
My top picks are Mateo, Milo, Oliver, and Sebastian. And I think they would be the names most likely to have everyone say and spell as you want. Well maybe except for Sebastian. Will you use accent marks or do you want to avoid the need for them? Are you ok with Americans, Mexicans, and Germans each naturally pronouncing the name in their own way? Tomas toe-MAS or TOM-us? Martin MAR-tin or mar-TEEN? Stefan stef-AHN or STEF-en? Daniel DAN-yul or dahn-YELL I would drop Christian, Valentin, and Matias from the list just because I don't particularly like those names. |
| I like Markus with a K. Other good names on the list are Oliver and Daniel. |
|
Agree that Marcus is better than Markus.
That said, I prefer the Spanish versions of Marcos/Marco to either of the above. |
