Infertility Support and Discussion
| Has anyone on the board had success getting pregnant with any local REs where their partner has has a previous vasectomy? Instead of a vasectomy reversal, we are looking at PESE or TESA for ICSI. Do any local docs specialize? Long story regarding the vasectomy...anyway, now there is a desire for additional kids. |

We successfully did IVF/ICSI with TESA. My DH had surgical scaring from pediatric procedures that left him with the equivalent of a vasectomy. We worked with Dr. Gindoff at GW and Dr. Shin did the consults and TESA procedures for DH. (Yes, plural - one diagnostic, then one for the actual IVF. This was for insurance reasons - diagnostic covered, but IVF wasn't, so if there wasn't any success on the diagnostic, we wouldn't have paid out of pocket for the IVF-coded procedure.) The out of pocket costs for the TESA added about $2k to our total costs for IVF+ICSI.
For full disclosure we did one fresh IVF (BPN), a FET (PG, but miscarried @ 9 weeks), then another fresh IVF which resulted in a successful pregnancy and delivery. All of those cycles were with one vial of semen from the TESA procedure so my DH didn't have to go through that again. Best wishes. |
