| I put $5000+ on my CC to relocate to a significantly higher paying job |
| Switching to a sales oriented job that is commission based. Make so much more now and work so much less. |
| Really stretched for our first house. Sold 5 years later and the profits let us upgrade and have lower payments |

I took a $7K credit card advance to start a business about 20 years ago. The business paid me about $30M over the last 20 years and I sold it for another $10M.
I’ve had some major grand flames in real estate as well but not sure anything compares with the business. |
| Paid cash for what we thought was an expensive house in 2017. House value has increased by a million dollars in 6 years. |
In retrospect that seems like a bad deal, you could've got a mortgage at 3% and let the 80% ride on the stock market and still made your million in equity, but also double the initial 80% in the market. |

We bought a beach house in 2017 which at the time seemed like a very rash move.
Just checked Zillow/Redfin and it's officially doubled in value over what we paid. Now there were probably ways we could have made more money with that money but we've had 6 summers at the beach and a ton of memories. |
| Nothing as extreme as the other business owner, but we started our own business 38 years ago and have enjoyed a nice living. At the same time, we bought a 4-br suburban house for $155,000 that was out of our reach (and this was before we had our kids), and now the house is paid off (and it's worth about $700,000). |
| Overstretched on a purchase of a new home in 2017 for about $1.2M. The house has appreciated about $1M in 6 years. |
Wow what kind of business? |
| So real estate for most ... Must be nice |
| Left my big brokerage firm to open a small, independent financial planning and investment firm. Income up over 4x in 8 years, love going to work, feel pride in owning my own business. |
Can I ask what company? I'm interested in this, but so many sales job posts sound like scams. |
Insurance. |
| Took huge debt to relocate from India to US for our masters in technology/business |
