Good company in MoCo for a senior aide?

Anonymous
Looking for a company that can provide a good, reliable aide for a senior on a very part time basis. Would hire independently but did that before and didn't like dealing with payroll and taxes.

Please let me know if you've used a good company in Montgomery County that's reliable. This is for a senior in their late 70s who needs help with things like getting dressed, opening can/jars/preparing food, washing dishes, laundry, bathing, etc. A bonus would be someone to help them use a tablet to check email and surf the web and help with therapy exercises.

I'm assuming an agency will charge $25-30/hour.

At least. I'd guess at least $30/hr. and likely more. I see that you said "a very part time basis" but there will probably be a 4 hour minimum per shift.

I'm sorry I don't have any local recommendations. I wish you good luck.

We are paying $29 per hour on the eastern shore of Maryland for agency fees.

I don't know the company name, but the director's name is 'Mariama'. Her number is 240-750-3500. I believe the requirement is minimum 4 hrs/shift. We paid $25-26/hr. Good luck.

Our experience is you will not find what you are looking for unless you do more hours. Honestly you are lucky to have someone actually show up, let alone on time and sit with you parent while they text friends and scroll the net and then occasionally interact. the ones who did the other stuff were true gems, but you needed to tip them and have them more hours.

Also, these are low paying jobs. Would you want to do all the sings you are asking for minimal pay and not even a full time gig? You want someone bathing your parent? That is what full time aides do. If you need someone doing exercises with your parent bring in a PT. It's a liability to have someone else do that.

We have had pretty good luck with Comfort Keepers out of Rockville, but this is for 24/7 care. Crazy expensive of course, but most of the caregivers have been good and a couple have been great.
