| Where do people buy boy's St. John's College uniform pants? Can it be any navy blue or do I need to order from Flynn O'Hare? I need slim size for a skinny kid. |
| Call the school and find out immediately and definitively. |
| Also... you have 6 months. Relax. |
| We’re at a different school, but Flynn and OHara does carry slim boys pants for us. I’d expect it to be similar across the board. |
Yea, I wouldn’t buy boys pants early. Those growth spurts will do you in! |
|
OP here,
DS is in Benilde and I was told they have to be in uniform for the 1 week orientation in June. |
|
We just finished SJC last year...just purchased Uniform Blue from GAP or Old Navy (that is literally the color) and nobody ever said anything. That was a tip from an upper classman parent passed onto us.
However, rules can change year-to-year...you should ask parents of current students. |
| Ask the school, but also ask current parents. My child has some a clothing sensitivities and we found pants that technically are not in the dress code, but pass well enough that no one has ever said anything to us or DC. Not SJC, however. |
Go to the school store and get the polo shirts. Flynn O'Hara has a better price for socks They changed and you no longer need to official school shoes - I do not know what the boys wear - but make note when you go to the school store what boys are wearing. |
| There is a fund raiser that the mother's club does twice a year for a uniform sale. |
| We were in a similar situation. We went to the Flynn O'hara store so my son could try on the pants and we could find the correct size. Of course, he outgrew those pants and we needed to buy new ones between 9th and 10th. |
| Flynn O’Hara is quite expensive. The school always has used uniform sales - spring and fall, run by Mother’s Club - and that is a great place to pick stuff up. I did not know Gap was acceptable and I’m on my second kid going through SJC! Great tip, thank you. |
| Flynn & O'Hara is the easiest one-stop shop except for SJC polos. They are only sold in the bookstore. |
|
Holy cow.
Buy the pants. Putting your kid in the position, in a new school, where you saved 20% on a $40 item, and sent the message that you are going to go your own way and bend the rules is not a great look. When your kid is there a while they can pick their battles around hair, shoes, and brands of pants. Start off properly. |
| They're a smidge more expensive, but I've found that the Flynn pants and polos hold up better to washing. And they do make slim sizes - I have a very skinny boy and these are the only pants that actually FIT him. |
