Easter traditions for older kids?

How do families celebrate Easter with tweens and teens? Once the easter bunny is over - and they have outgrown easter egg hunts -- how do families celebrate? We are more secular although we go to church occasionally. I don't think a church-focused celebration would be a great fit for a family but not sure how else to celebrate this holiday....

My kids are teens and we still hide eggs for them and give them Easter Baskets. My mom made me an easter basket until she died when I was in my 30s. The kids get better things in the eggs now- gift cards, cash, "shotgun" in the car for a month, etc.

Oh easter eggs just have different things in them. Everyone likes a treasure hunt, OP!

One year I hid hundreds of eggs, each with a handful of lego pieces in them. They had to find all the eggs and build Harry Potter's castle together.

One year each egg had a $1 in it. They were VERY motivated that year.

We don't celebrate religion. I see it as the equivalent of St. Patrick's Day or Valentine's Day. A few minutes of fun and then a normal day.

Kids love traditions and the longer you do them, the more meaningful they are.

Who doesn’t love to dye eggs and decorate them? Who doesn’t love a basket of goodies.

They never outgrow the egg hunts and baskets! Last year my 17 and 20-year-old kids had the most epic hunt across three yards (our neighbors hid eggs for them also). No money involved, just eggs. The reward is bragging rights for the year.

I might give my 13 year old a choice this year. Egg hunt with lots of little eggs or 1 bigger egg and a gift card.

Still planning to dye eggs and fill Easter baskets with the trinkets she has looked forward to all her life. Age 18.

Beyond church and baskets, we have all kinds of culinary traditions in my family (deviled eggs, ham, gin fizz) and fond memories of going to my Grandma's for dinner. If you're really stretching for ideas on how to celebrate, it doesn't sound like an important holiday for your family. Did you grow up celebrating Easter?

Will be flying to visit my parents. My 17yo teen plans to create an egg hunt for her grandparents. Eggs will be the plastic ones & our plan is to put wildflower seed bombs or corny, Easter-themed jokes inside.

My mom is diabetic and has lots of mobility & diet issues, so chocolate/candy is out. My dad is always up for games. Teen asked to stop having Easter baskets herself two years ago, and doesn't have any younger relatives to organize this for. So, we thought this would be a fun way for her to engage with her grandparents and encourage them to move a bit when we visit.

We're also bringing brunch & flowers.

Excellent idea! People forget that grandparents like to play games too!

Two teens and we still do egg hunts and Easter baskets. I put clothes, gift cards, iPhone chargers, etc in their baskets. And of course candy. I hide the baskets, same as when they were little although I make it harder, like locking it in the garage.

We color eggs and take turns who hides them. The rest of the family looks. We use regular eggs and they win bragging rights.

^also adding, I tried to make Beanboozled a thing but it was too nasty for even the teens. We did it one year. https://www.jellybelly.com/beanboozled-jelly-beans/c/341

We still do an egg hunt with friends. Kids are 11. Aside from that we go to Church and have lunch with my in laws. If Church isn’t your thing I’m not sure why you are celebrating Easter.

OP, if you go to church occasionally, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t pick Easter as one of those days? It is a religious holiday after all. Why celebrate at all at this point?

Ukrainian style eggs. It's a whole project. DD takes a very geometrical approach.
