Do any other parents use male babysitters

Anonymous
We have a boy and a girl who are toddlers. Since moving to our current house, we have had exactly one girl babysitter. Since then and having used in the past, we only hire male babysitters.

We have found they don’t sit on their phones, they don’t have others over, they engage with our kids and play and roughhouse. Our kids always seem to sleep in later than normal after our babysitter has come.

They love it when we say “this night” is our date night because they know how much fun they will have.

I’m wondering if anyone else uses male babysitters.

Boys are amazing babysitters! So active and involved.

Yes, we’ve used male babysitters for years. Not anymore because the kids are a bit too old but may 13 year old boy wants to start babysitting himself in about a year. I had male babysitters when I was a child too (I’m female).

I’ll use any reliable, trustworthy babysitter I can find.

I have a son and a daughter, both babysat. Our daughter babysat a neighbor with a boy and a girl, our son babysat a little further away - he met the families at the pool where he was also a lifeguard, and the kids were a little older. He definitely played more outdoor/physical stuff* than our daughter did.

*running, throwing a ball, playing chase, etc

Nope, and will not.

A family across the street, that we've known for years, has a teen son. He has sat for us. I'd be reluctant to employ a male sitter that I barely know, even though I was one myself long ago.

Typical misandry on DCUM

My son was a camp counselor and baby sat for a couple families but only families that have boys and only preschool age+, no helping kids in the bathroom. He wasn't comfortable with diapers and I don't want him put in a position to be accused of something. He's awesome with little kids -- led the 5-6 year old boys group at a summer camp when he was 16 and had multiple parents asking him to babysit.

We also used a neighbor's son as a babysitter when our kids were in early ES. It was very convenient for days when DH and I had overlapping schedules and needed an hour or two coverage in between. My daughter didn't love having him sit because he wouldn't talk to her but was better with my son.

I love men. But the reality is, the majority, vast majority, of pedophiles and child abusers are men.

Yes let's generalize and say all girls are bad.

Yes let’s generalize and say all men are bad paedophiles!

The reality is more women than men physically abuse children.

Who said that? However in our experience with female babysitters, this was the case. Our nanny cams confirmed this!
