Which church meets these criteria?

I grew up in an interfaith household and almost became Catholic as an adult (one of my parents was) but a child abuse scandal broke out and dissuaded me. (I have kids). My husband and I used to an attend an Episcopal church (he grew up Episcopalian) and I liked that the services were in many ways like Catholic services, but it became extremely political and wasn't right for us. There was a day when they prayed for harm to come to a certain lawmaker and it was just bizarre. We switched to an Anglican church and while the substance is better (actually focusing on the Bible and not politics) the services are much less traditional and more evangelical (contemporary music, raising hands toward people when praying for them) and it feels... wrong. Maybe it's just not what I'm used to. Someone mentioned that there are more "high church" / traditional Anglican churches out there we should consider and another person suggested we check out a Presbyterian church. Anyway...

Is there a church that:
1. Doesn't focus on politics, or if they must, is moderate or center-right
2. Has more traditional services

The people at St. Columba's tend to be liberal, but I've never heard liberal politics discussed during a sermon. And the services are traditional.

The right Presbyterian church would fit

For you, I would suggest a PCA church (Presbyterian Church in America). They are the more conservative end of Presbyterian but may be moderate depending on where you're located. Worship style may vary - I attended a PCA church that did have a mix of praise songs and hymns.

I currently attend a Presbyterian (USA; can ordain women, etc.) church where services are very traditional (all hymns and choir, no praise music).

Their services are very stark and nothing like the Catholic or Episcopal smells and bells.

Second a PCA church. McLean Presbyterian (there are several locations throughout the DMV) might be a good fit.

The Presbyterians are out in force!

FYI OP, human rights are not politics.

I'm not sure what Episcopal Church you were at where anyone prayed for harm to anyone, but you probably need to explore more Anglican churches to find what you're looking for. There's a spectrum of churchmanships in Anglican/Episcopal churches, and some will be more evangelical but others will be very high church. The non-Episcopal Anglican churches are a real mix with a lot of overlapping groups and jurisdictions, so it can be harder to navigate.

Where are you?

OP you do know Episcopalians are part of the Anglican community right? I can’t imagine they prayed for physical harm to come to someone but they do tend to lean more towards love everybody so if that doesn’t work for you you do need somewhere more conservative.

Check out ELCA Lutheran churches.

You might try Christ the king. Anglican. More high church/ reverent than the other local Anglican churches.

+1
Many ELCA congregations lean slightly (or more than slightly) to the left, so the LCMS congregations could be an option.

Falls Church Anglican has the very traditional service, family service and wave-your-arms in the air with praise bands service. Actually four services to pick from on sundays. All bible. no politics

OP, your experience was unfortunate but not typical of Episcopal churches. I suggest you try some other Episcopal congregations in your area.

Churches that self-describe as “Anglican” are former Episcopal congregations that broke away several years ago because they disagreed with the Episcopal Church’s stance on gay marriage and, in some communities, ordination of women. Typically an Anglican parish is more conservative than an Episcopal parish.
