All three major insulin manufacturers have cut or capped their prices

Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk and Sanofi have all now agreed to cut prices for the insulin needed by Type 1 diabetics for survival to $35/month, after last year’s Inflation Reduction Act capped the price on it for seniors.

Credit where credit is due. Healthcare should not be a for-profit enterprise, and it’s pretty galling how these companies inflated the prices to rake in as much cash as possible, regardless of the harm caused to the people who need insulin to survive.

Do more of this, start ignoring the neo-cons and wokesters and you got a cruise path to re-election.

They could have done this all along, but the invisible (phantom) hand of the market doesn’t really apply and never did. Without regulations and rules, healthcare businesses will all but actively kill people and I’m tired of relying on the kindness of businesses to keep people alive.

But this was voluntary anyway. They were only required to cap the price for people 65+.

The government blocks any new players from entering the market via the patent system. The FDA is also slow to approve new delivery mechanisms to provide competition.
