| As a fed how difficult is it to get moved to the career track after the year probationary period? |
| It should be automatic? |
Right I mean how severe is the scrutiny in deciding whether to advance the person? Does it happen that anyone gets canned to avoid making them career? Just anxious. Love my job. |
| Why on earth would they do that? It’s so hard to hire people, why would they keep reliving the horror? Enjoy your job. |

I’ve never heard of anyone let go at a year to avoid making them permanent. That’s bizarre OP.
I have fired feds within the first year, but it’s always been within the first few weeks / just really clear it was not a fit. |
| What happens when you are career? Why exactly is it better job security? |
If you are meeting performance standards in your mid-year and end of year reviews, you should be fine. If you’re not, I would be mildly concerned. |
