My cat is completely obsessed with face scratches.

I realize this is normal, and cats love their cheeks to be scratched, but my cat, who I've had for 16 years, is obsessed with cheek and head scary he's. She started at our hands, gets in our faces, nudges us and will even give gentle nips to get us to scratch her cheeks. Even if she is snuggled in my lap and otherwise content, she will obsessively watch my hands and do what she can t get me to pet her. It's actually kind of exhausting. She has always been a bit like this, but it has become increasingly intense as she has aged. Is this just her personality or is something else going on?

Have you had the vet take a lookat her teeth and gums?

I've had cats all my life. My most recent one is so physically needy. All petting must be active, can't just rest my hand on her back, and I either have to be making eye contact or she has to be resting her nose on me. Her favorite is sitting on one of my hands, getting head scratches with other hand, resting her nose on my chin, and staring into my eyes. She is also kneading her little claws in my chest. If she were human, I'd have a restraining order.

Op here. Good point, I had not thought about that. She has been to the vet fairly recently, though, and everything in her mouth looked okay.

Second PP, I also reckon this might just be who she is? It has become more intense with age, but I guess we all change...

These behaviors are your cat telling you she loves you.

I’m really happy that I misinterpreted your title because I thought your cat was obsessed with scratching your face.
