| Is this show appropriate for a 13 yo? I thought so bc it centers around a bunch of middle schoolers but it is pretty dark, scary and graphic. Oral rape by demons and ensuing PTSD/trauma is pretty intense even for me as an adult. |
| I have a 13yo and all her friends seem to have watched it over the last few years. Dd doesn’t like being scared so she’s just seen a few episodes. It’s pretty clearly in the camp horror/fantasy genre so I think it’s not as “traumatic” as you think for most people who understand that it’s fake. |
| I think most kids are already kind of over it by 13. |
Huh? |
|
Not appropriate in my book. No need for kids to grow up too fast. This stuff scares me. One of my kids would definitely not sleep well.
There's no lack of content out there to watch instead. |
| Depends on your 13 year old. Mine loved it but she's not scared easily. The earlier seasons really aren't scary, but there is some darker content that develops as the writers delve deeper into Eleven's past. Don't recall oral rape by demons. I mean really? that's what you got from that? |
| My 11 year old is into Stranger Things, and has not had any nightmares from it. But we watch it as a family, which I think helps. |
|
It really does depend.
My 12 year old watched the first episode and said "no thanks, too scary" I honestly think it was the missing/kidnapped kid that messed him up more than the idea of a demon. |
| I’m watching season 3 and the possessed people are really scary and so are the scenes where they get zombified by the mind flayer. |
| My 11 year old loves it and is less scared than I am. |
| I’m an adult and I found it scary. |
|
Of course it is appropriate for a 13 year old.
|
Knowing it is a scary thing - if no scary this is ever ok - that is a personal thing - not an age thing. |
| My 12 year old and 16 year old have seen the whole series and they aren't serial killers yet. |
| It 100% depends on the kid. My DH & DD (then 13/ 14) watched it and didn't blink my DS and I couldn't watch it as it was too scary |
