| Hi everyone. My child has been waitlisted for an 8th-grade seat at College Park Academy. What would you say the chances are that a seat opens up? Do they move through their waitlist? |
Waitlisted at number 10 or at 50? My kids waitlist number never moved more than 7 or 8 spots. |
| New poster here — when you say your waitlist spot never moved more than 7 or 8 spots, was that at College Park Academy? Trying to gauge my chances at another specialty program with a number in the 20s! |
It depends on your number snd where you live. Do you luce un UP or College park? If you do, you get priority snd jump to the top of the waitlist line. |
Specifically at CPA. Waitlists at schools vary a lot. |
| Very helpful, thank you! |
I don't think that is competely true. Only a certain percentage of seats are held for UP/CP residents the rest of them are open to the County. |
It’s 30% or so. Point is everyone gets a number, but the first number they give you isn’t your true number if you live there. If you are number 15 and 1-14 is outside of the boundary and the percentage is less than 30%, your number is really #1 not number 15. Likewise and 8 might look good, but it won’t move if numbers 1-7 are outside CP and there number is less than 30% |
| Thanks everyone. My kids number is 27 so, chances don’t seem great. |
| Waitlisted in the 80s for 10th grade. Also not expecting a seat. |

I'm late in replying but wanted to shed some light. Both of my kids are at CPA. When we came in, DD was number 35 for 6th grade waitlist. A spot opened in late June. Another child at her school was around 50 and he made it in sometime in July.
For the higher grades its a little different, I think. Keep in mind CPA is a smaller school, ~600 kids, about 100 per grade level. The most transition is going to high school. |
