Also didn't know the gender ratio was so bad at Tulane.

I think Tulane figured out that savvy students figured out its ED game and we’re going to stop applying. And I think they hired a new director. I think but can’t verify right now that Bates may also have reduced the percentage of the class admitted through ED. I had told my daughter not to bother applying to either if not ED. Bates will be back on the table now. I think this is a positive change.

I know boys with Cs at a top private who were admitted this year and girls with As and a few Bs who were not. It's definitely a much harder admit for a girl.

They still took the vast majority of the class via ED and EA. Approaching NE levels of test optionall.

That is a bad gender ratio. I wouldn’t be surprised if more colleges start reaching that gender imbalance as well.

That would require rejecting more qualified girls than boys, which doesn't stop right with most adcoms. No one seems to be complaining about these ratios (misogynist much?) so there's no reason to change anything.

IMO, the gender imbalance is more of a headline than the percent admitted

Actually most colleges do reject more girls than boys because they try to keep within 5 percentage points or so of gender balance.

I think the gender ratio of enrolled students at Tulane is around 60/40 (women/men).

How do you know all these kids grades?

Hopefully this ED nonsense will come to an end soon at all schools

Tulane boosters never mention 1300 out of the 1850 students enrolled are ED. There's no point in even applying rd.

This is not surprising at all. In fact, Tulane has been predicting it all year if you have been listening. Tulane has a new Dean of Admissions this year. He announced early on that his goal was to increase the number of first gen, minority, international and local/Louisiana students. To achieve this goal he was going to accept more students EA and RD (they accepted 400 RD this year which is a lot more than previously). I think if you are admitting more first gen or minority students that may need to compare financial aid offers, your admit rate will increase because you are admitting more from non-binding rounds.
