Coming of age movies in the same vein as My Girl and Now and Then?

Anonymous
Recently bonded with DD12 over My Girl (1 and 2) and Now and Then. She’s interested in more but for the life of me I can’t think of anything else, other than Stand By Me, which is more a coming of age BOY movie. Can you think of anything similar, past or present?

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t watch Stand By Me because the main characters are boys? I have a DD and DS and they’ve both seen My Girl and liked. Books and movies don’t have gender. We need to stop acting like they do.

Love this, but I’d save for an older teen.

Watched (and re-watched!) a ton of movies over the past few years with my cousins and our girls. These were some of the ones they liked. Some are more mature than others.

Little Women (1994 and 2019)
The Man in the Moon
Dirty Dancing
Edge of Seventeen
Fly Away Home
Mermaids
Harriet the Spy (DS loves this too)
Thirteen
Lucas
Tall Girl and Tall Girl 2
Juno
13 going on 30
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

I also thought they would love the John Hughes movies, which are pretty tame in retrospect, but they didn't really "get" them. Sentimental for me though.

I could not get through Licorice Pizza, although I know it was the critics' darling.
