Teenager on Medicaid: how to afford the dentist

Anonymous
Does anybody have suggestions for a homeless teen on Medicaid but there's no dental insurance included? This is in Silver Spring area.

Go to a dental clinic associated with a dental school. Howard University has one

Are you sure there is no dental? Maryland Medicaid does come with dental coverage for people under 21.

Does Maryland Medicaid Cover Dental?
...
Maryland does, however, provide a children’s dental benefit for individuals under the age of 21. This allows for minors who qualify for Medicaid to have routine screenings and cleanings covered, but it also provides coverage for more intensive procedures and dental devices, including fillings, root canals and even dentures. The Children’s Health Insurance Program also provides funds to assist in medical care for children covered by various subsidized health insurance programs across Maryland.

Maryland has healthy smiles (dental coverage) for everyone who gets full Medicaid as of January 1, 2023. Go to mdhealthysmiles.com for more information and to find providers that accept it.

Mary's center is in silver spring and has a dental clinic, and they have health insurance navigators and other services, so I would suggest starting there.

Maryland medicaid absolutely covers dental. Contact whoever you got the medicaid thru and get him on healthy smiles.

My kid has excellent dental care with healthy smiles.
