Help me think through these 2 job options, the first option I need to decision asap:
1. Director executive level role returning to a company I was at 10 years ago in an executive role with high exposure to very senior management remote role, manage 2 employees, $260k salary + $50-$75k bonus+$25k-40k equity-not sales role. smaller to mid size company. Slower moving company culture which concerns me I might be bored and frustrated but the exposure to mgmt and a new part of business I would be running could be a great experience 2. A sales role-similar to role I have been in for last 15 years-written offer might come in the next 3 weeks 3 days a week in office in NYC/Philadelphia $250k salary + $150k bonus (100k cash, 50k equity depending on yearly sales performance) may likely need to move the family (3 kids) up to that area good company with fast pace culture-familiar product I would be selling from what I do now |
| How old are you? Do you have a working spouse? Is a relo package an available? |
Yes relo would be available. Maybe 15k-20k to move. Dh works from home and makes 150k |
45 years old |
| With three kids, I would take the remote role hands down. To avoid moving and save commute time |
Doesn’t seem worth it. I moved NY to DC with 120k relo and even that barely covered it. |
| You’re really asking a bunch of strangers what direction to take your family? Homie, make your own decisions with your spouse. |
I think I would do this too! But a man would probably move to nyc |
Really?!! Why so much? What would cost 120k relo package? A down payment? |
| Option one! Life up in NY is way harder and more expensive and keeping up with the neighbors wealth. No thanks |

Option 1 hands down
And you might be surprised that it's not as boring and slow paced as you think. And if it truly is, you're senior level mgmt so start moving mountains and hasten the pace. |
This! |
| How did it go? I am in a similar spot and think option one is best with kids but wanted to head of op has any regrets? |
| What industry are you in? |
Finance/banking |
