| DS 14 has ADHD and Anxiety/depression. He’s lost a bit of weight which we thought was due to his meds but we’re now not sure as they have been changed. His BMI is low but not critical. But DS doesn’t really eat- he claims he’s not hungry but also talks about how anxious meal time (esp lunch at school and even dinner with us) makes him feel. He’s even said that he was bullied about his weight in the past- not sure why it’s coming out now? Any recs for someone who can help? |
| I highly recommend checking out FEAST to start the process of finding help. I think it is one of the best support spaces I've ever seen online. You can search for providers based on what you are seeing in your son and it's also just an amazing resource for you to use to understand what's going on with your child and how you can provide support along with the professional you work with. ED treatment is hard on a family and you are going to need that support. https://www.feast-ed.org/ |
New poster. Wondering about FEAST and how to find a Family Based Therapist in the DMV. Or share any experience you have with any providers. |
NP - Feast is really a great site and based on the evidence based maudsley approach that Children’s and all the best programs use now as the most evidence based approach. Sign up for their 30 day thing. It’s free. But honestly it was as good or better than some of the treatment specialists we tried. You can get names of therapists from children’s hospital - but they are often hit or miss. Try Pinney Davenport who are speciality ED nutritionists - they help with the plans for getting kids to eat - but also would have FBT Recommendations. |
