Silent Disco

thinking about throwing one for a birthday party but I have never been. Anyone been to one? Hosted one (renting the equipment)? Thoughts/tips/tricks?

I have been to one. It's a lot of fun. At first I was a little skeptical but it was fun to watch others dancing to a totally different beat at the same time.

Sounds a little strange but fun at the same time.

We've done them on Disney cruises. Really really fun.

What makes them more fun than dancing to a dj? It seems like it'd eliminate all interacting, is that the point?

No loud music to bother your neighbors, sleeping kids, can adjust the music to your ideal level, etc. Don’t need to shut down early

Basically you’ve eliminated the negative externality of a DJ who likes to over-drive a crappy sound system

Wait...silent disco is a real thing? I know it only from the British sitcom "W1A" and I figured it must be made up....Hilarious and cool to find out it's real. (Though in the show, it's played for laughs, with a super pretentious design firm giving employees "silent disco breaks" in the office as a "reward" when anyone has an idea!) I might have to throw a party and do silent disco! Thanks, OP.
