Do the Admissions teams at each school share info the admissions at other schools and vice versa?

We accepted ___ We rejected ___ we waitpooled. ___, etc

No chance with the number of applicants they get.

I've often wondered if there was a bit of backroom dealing go on. If Student X applies to three similarly competitive schools, might they unofficially agree that one school accepts while the other two WL and that they have a bit of a "draft" system?

While this would be collusion in any real business (and probably is here too), it seems like a way to very accurately manage yield and it certainly doesn't seem likely to rise to the level of regulatory scrutiny based on the size, real world impact and audience.

You can't be serious. "They" don't "officially agree" on anything.

You people are giving this process way too much headspace.

I think the schools share past year top line numbers (how many applications, how many accepted, yield etc) bi I have never heard of sharing current info or info on specific kids and have been on the board at various privates. I also think not based on the experiences my kids had applying.

I guess I can’t say for certain but I think no.

They don't have the time or bandwidth to do this for random students, but perhaps if a VIP's kid is rejected, they call around to see whether he or she can be accepted elsewhere...?

How many applicants do you think each of the big 5 get?

They don't have the time or staff to do this.

One K-12 said 960.

I should point out that just under half of that 960 were for 9th grade.
