Clear glass or “rain glass” shower door

Anonymous
Was looking to replace a shower door. I came across something called rain glass and thought it was really interesting. but my friend, an interior designer is adamant to only use clear glass. Is rain glass considered cheesy? Looking for other perspectives.

I like it.

Clear. Don’t like the rain glass at all. I have had clear glass shower doors and glass block showers always. I love the look of the clear glass.

I hate the look of the rain glass shower doors. Seems very early 80s. The clear glass can certainly be a PITA to clean, though, especially if you have very hard water or live with someone stubborn who insists on using Dove Body Wash and other thick soaps or shampoos that leave a lot of scum.

Rain glass is so trashy. Do not do it

Rain glass over clear glass (which is a PITA to keep clean/looking good)

I have clear glass seamless and it's not difficult to keep clean.

Rain glass is trashy, it will also be harder to clean. Just because something hides dirt and/or water stains doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Do normal glass and get in the habit of using a squeegee then micro fiber cloth (for edges/bottom) after each use. It takes all of 2 minutes after use to keep you glass looking great

Clear is probably better for resale but if you don’t care about resale just get what you like. No one sees it anyway.

If you have a really big shower so that it doesn't really get hit by water and soap very often, definitely clear. If it's the standard bathtub size just with shower doors and you don't have the patience to squeegee it every time you take a shower, I think I would do frosted glass over clear. But not rain glass.

Didn't think that looked too awful. Squeegee after every use. As if! Yes, it's not particularly large, water hits the door pretty much the whole shower. And I throw my dogs in there every few weeks and bathe them too. But I did see some of the clear glass has anti-scum protection or something. I guess clear glass it is.

+1, and the point is it *is* clean.

We did partially frosted, for privacy since our kids are always in and out of the bathroom. Clear low-iron class on top.

I can see preferring clear glass, but rain glass is "trashy"? Who are you people?
