Is it too late to send a letter of continued interest.

Anonymous
DD wants to attend a school and their decisions come out around March 25th, I believe. Is it too late to send the letter of interest at this point. Is it likely that admissions decisions have already been made? I suppose this would help
If she were waitlisted? Thanks

Decisions have been made at this point OP. She could fry but it won’t change anything

Really? UMich's deadline to submit a statement is 3/17. You don't think they would read it if you submit it then?

Likely not. Consider they spend less than five minutes with each application packet before seeming an initial yes or no.

LOCI are when you get deferred from EA or ED. Is that what happened? If so, it’s really late for that unless it was a recent decision like ED2 or some EAs. If this is your first round at RD, that isn’t a thing. But if it’s your first choice and you absolutely would attend if accepted, you could email the AO for your area
so stating.

If you applied there, they haven’t given you a decision, and you haven’t withdrawn your application, then the college assumes you’re still interested. What possible value would a letter add now?

Really? IF they've been made, what are they doing? Why don't they release the decisions? I would say, it can't hurt.

An expression of interest never hurts but proabably won't help.

They’re fine tuning around the edges. Flagging where alumni might get pissed off. Drafting letters for approval. Preparing the online system. All of that takes time.

It takes 3 weeks? The week before my dc's ED decision, the counselor told me the school was in committee (because she was late sending his grades). He got in and they required the grades, so I think she was right.

Don’t send unless the school specifically says interest is considered. Otherwise it accomplishes nothing.

Do you think it hurts? I can't imagine it does - maybe at a huge state school it's annoying, but otherwise, it's likely to just be ignored if it doesn't help.

Why annoy AO’s by sending things they didn’t ask for?

My DC sent one. Unsolicited. More of a ‘recent progress and update re achievements’ coupled with ‘your school is my top choice.’ Have no idea if it counted or worked. But DC is in at that school. It is an email, it’s 3 minutes, and how could it hurt? Do it OP

Interest is considered at the school where she sent the LOCI - OP
